Maggie Alphonsi MBE

We are thrilled to announce our new ambassador, Maggie Alphonsi MBE.

Maggie is the face of international women’s rugby, having played rugby for England an impressive 74 times and even won the World Cup. Today she commentates for ITV, BT Sport, Sky Sports and the BBC and is a columnist for the Telegraph.

Maggie was also born with Clubfoot. Her treatment stopped before she turned three and she wasn’t even aware she had the condition.

Maggie says,

“It was an England clinician who noticed the scar on my foot and connected that with my gait problems and the fact my right calf is fatigued. Suddenly it made sense.

I had to adjust and I had to keep going. I made sure that I did extra work on strengthening my calf muscle, my foot, my glutes, my hamstring and on improving my flexibility in my ankle.

I’m passionate about increasing understanding and improving treatment and support for people with childhood lower limb conditions, and that’s why I’m proud to partner with Steps. My hope is that by sharing my experiences and promoting awareness about Clubfoot, more families can access the support and resources they need to achieve the best outcomes.”
